My ADHD husband usually goes to sleep around 2:00 to 3:00 am, yet continually complains about how tired he is. He just will NOT go to bed earlier, and says that he is "not tired", which is not true. He even falls asleep driving (arrrgh).
I have asked him to come to bed earlier, and even tried to give him incentives to do so, but to no avail. I have a pain condition in my neck and back and sleep is VITAL for me, yet he wakes me up EVERY night, and often it's hard for me to get back to sleep. Plus, he turns the TV on, with the volume LOUD, but gets angry if I do that. When HE does go to sleep he doesn't want ME to interrupt HIS sleep. "I have to work tomorrow", he says. (just one more of the many things to deal with)
Anyone else deal with sleep issues?
Sleep problems... What is the time of my post?

I was up at 4:45am to walk the dogs, get the kids ready for school and me off to work. I worked until 5:30, then came home got my eldest daughter, went to the symphony, then because we had not had dinner, we went to dinner and home at midnight. I am about to go to sleep now.
Before my ADD was discovered, I had a sleep curse. From 2pm until about 7pm I could hardly stay awake. Tryng not to fall asleep driving home after work. After the kids are in bed, fed and bathed, it's 9pm and then I was WIDE awake until at least 11-12 midnight.
Sleep issues can be related to ADD...

I have ADD and I go to bed between 1am and 2am (sometimes 3am) almost every night. I don't know why. I was exhausted earlier this evening after a fast-paced and hard day. I feel tired now. I generally have a hard time getting up in the mornings (as would be expected!). But still I do this every night. It drives my dh crazy. He goes to bed at 10pm like clockwork every night because it is his "bedtime." I do work very hard at NOT waking him up when I do go to bed, though. Sometimes I think I enjoy it because it is "my time" where I can watch TV or surf the computer for a few hours without feeling guilty like I should be doing chores or errands instead. But I have seen enough references to this as a common ADHD trait, that I don't know if there is really a reason like that. I have tried setting an alarm at 11pm to "remind" myself to go to bed, but so far it hasn't worked. I just turn it off and stay up! My ADD-son has a hard time falling asleep also.

at least one or 2 hours before bed, turn off computer, tv, lower lights and play relaxing music. Also try melatonin 1 hour before bed. Our circadian rhythm is screwed up and the melatonin helps to put it back. I am having the same struggle. I was religiously going to bed at midnight but fell off the wagon recently and have been pulling some really late nights. My hubby is away and it changed my routine before I got to internalize the change. After reading your post, I am resolved to start again this night. It is 10 before 11 here. Our brains are too active to just go to bed. You have to make both a ritual and a habit. When I make up my mind to accomplish something, I stick to it by imagining a voice in my head screaming "You're ADHDing again !!!!!!" I've done that when I am tempted not to put things away or to leave dishes in the sink. Surprisingly, it works more often than not.
