This is not a sarcastic question--is there some corollary between ADHD and physical ailments? I know that ADHD people are more prone to accidents and injuries due to impulsive, risk taking behavior--that I can totally see not only in DH but in my kids, both of whom have ADHD too. What I am talking about is physical complaints, ailments, aches and pains. In the past 20 years I cannot tell you how many aches and pains DH complains about. I am sure it is not a daily thing, but it seems like it. Headaches, upset stomach, arthritis (not diagnosed), kink in his neck, cramp in his leg (hence a limp) the list seems to go on and on. He has been hospitalized several times and had many surgeries--carpal tunnel in both wrists, some ankle thing I can't even remember, but now that ankle acts up a lot, 18 inches of colon removed due to diverticulitis, broken wrist, elbow, broken teeth. It's always something. Since December DH has traveled for work Monday mornings until Friday afternoons and if I speak to him at night there's usually a complaint--he's exhausted because he didn't sleep well, he was up all night with a migraine, he was up all night with an upset stomach, he is exhausted because it was so hot wherever he is and the heat just took it out of him. Now, this is a man who was in the Air Force. How can he be that delicate? Is is part of the low self esteem, attention getting? need for drama? need to be the center of attention? I have been hospitalized exactly twice-to give birth to each boy. I had a miscarriage after son #2 and had to have a procedure to take care of that and I can tell you it was awful and yet...came home and carried on the same day. I had three impacted wisdom teeth dug out without anesthetic and drove myself home. Not that I never get sick, that's not what I mean, but geez-does anyone else notice more than average physical complaints from their ADHD spouse? Just curious.
are ADHD people sick more often?

I think some/many have long

I think some/many have long-learned that "ailments" get them sympathy, gets them out of work, gets them more free time, etc.
My H is a hypochondriac. It's done mostly to have a reason to sleep in, take naps, not do chores, etc.
However, he does CAUSE a lot of things, as well. He mistreats his body, over-does work-outs, isn't careful, etc.
He's had many broken bones, caused by his own impulsiveness. He's been hit by a car. He's fallen out of two moving cars. He's been hit by a bat.
He's had hip replacement surgery, but that may have been congenital, but who knows.
My husband is oblivious

My husband has many legitimate aches and pains due to injuries and accidents from carelessness. He has rods, pins, scars, damaged discs, etc. I don't doubt that he has aches and pains. However, it is only an issue when the spotlight isn't on him. As long as the world is revolving around him, he doesn't notice his physical pains. He is so hyperfocused on his priorities that he doesn't even notice when he's sick. He is oblivious to his own body and feelings. He had chronic sinus infections for a year. It turned out that the sinus infections were caused by an abscessed tooth. He didn't even notice that he had an abscessed tooth until it was so bad that it had to be pulled. Oblivious!!
Hi dvance....Yes, Yes and Yes...

Same here...I've often thought some of the constant complaining is her way of dodging responsibilities...I know it has become real to her though...I'm like you, I've been very blessed...
I don't know about your H, but my W can make miraculous recovery when I decide to take her out for dinner or a traveling opportunity or some thrill seeking activity presents itself....:)

My H can wake up and claim that he's too tired to do anything, etc. Then someone will call with a golf invite and miraculously he's fine.

Yes, too!! As long as H is getting preferential attention to his aches and pains, he's happy. However, if I rarely have some issue, then suddenly his pains are "worse" or he will suddenly have an "illness". ...which of course is worse than whatever I have. lol
