If you have tried an ADHD Coach, please explain how it works and whether you liked it? Do they give assignments or answer questions or what? I am considering finding one to help me, but I am not sure what to expect or look for. My counselor has been great, but she mostly helps me work through my feelings and change my "inner voice" so I am not beating myself up all the time. She does not really offer much practical advice or tips other than encouraging me to figure out what works FOR ME and do that. I would like to also find someone who can help me find methods to treat specific symptoms and evaluate their effectiveness (e.g., use a 15-min timer when tackling household chores, or make a master packing list for trips, etc.). Is that the kind of thing that an ADHD Coach does?

Hi,
I am married to an AMAZING person who has ADD. His ADD meets my own life-long sense of dis-empowerment, anxiety and co-dependence and boy do the sparks fly. However, I am very interested in finding out if a coach can help because we need to come to an understanding regarding how and if lists will help him keep forward momentum on tasks/planning/initiating etc. I, too, look forward to hearing some more on this question.
