I was interviewed last week on public radio about ADHD and its impact on marriage. You can listen to the interview at this link. It's about 12 minutes long - click on the "listen" button to the right of the picture. Enjoy!
You are not alike, and one of the big differences between you is what it feels like to live with your brain. You may be surprised at just how different your head feels than your partners, once you start to discuss it (go ahead – it’s a fun conversation!) So, in the words of those who know first hand, what IS it like to see the world “through” an ADHD brain?
I was giving a talk last night outside Boston and, once again, was asked “How do I get my spouse to stop denying that ADHD is a factor in our marriage?” Here are some specific suggestions for anyone who is struggling with this.
Dr. Hallowell and Dr. Oz did a terrific job introducing people to the idea that ADHD might be affecting their marriage. Watch this video, take the short quiz it includes, and see how you and your partner stack up. Go to this link.
This Thursday, Sept. 16, Dr. Hallowell will be on the Dr. Oz show talking about ADHD and how it impacts marriages. Hope you get to see it! To find out what time this show airs in your area, please go to this link!

A gentle reminder to those of you out there who are considering signing up for my upcoming seminar for couples interested in improving their marriage - the seminar starts this coming Monday, Sept. 13th. It's going to be an outstanding, positive, informative experience for both partners and will help you open doors you didn't even know were there. The program runs 7 consecutive Mondays from 7:30-8:30 eastern time, by phone. For more information, go to this link.
We get enough comments and questions about porn addiction and the use of porn by those who have ADHD that I asked some of the coaches at Recovery Nation (an organization that helps people overcome their porn and sex addictions) to write an overview of the topic. They have graciously complied with my request, for which I thank them. Their overview includes how to know if you have a sex addiction, what to do if you suspect you have a sex addiction, and seven good links for further reading. You can find it in our resources section, here.
Today, Sept. 1, is the official release date for my book, The ADHD Effect on Marriage and I'm celebrating! For those of you who are waiting to receive it, thanks for your patience! Though Amazon has been having trouble keeping up with the orders, I notice that Barnes and Nobles has it in stock both online and in many of their local stores. Please spread the word about the book with those you love! Note that I will be giving some talks - right now I'm planning east coast (October), plus Chicago (November).
vThis site spends a lot of time addressing and airing problems - I thought it was time to write a light hearted post about the successes that couples who have come here have experienced. These are all real stories taken from my clients of the past few months. Enjoy!
